Het project Aluksne Banitis Station, ontwikkeld door de gemeente Aluksne in Letland, is een gerenoveerde oude bagageschuur die nu onderdak biedt aan een multimediatentoonstelling. Deze tentoonstelling weerspiegelt de verhalen van de plaatselijke bevolking over de smalspoortrein Banitis en de spoorlijn Aluksne-Gulbene. Banitis is de enige volledig operationele smalspoorlijn in de Baltische staten die functioneert als openbaar vervoer, waardoor het een belangrijk onderdeel is van de identiteit van de lokale gemeenschap. <\/p>\n\n

De expositie, die in 2018 werd geopend, toont herinneringen van lokale mensen over elk station langs de spoorlijn. Bezoekers kunnen een virtueel ritje met de trein maken door bij een nagebootst treinraampje te gaan zitten, waar ze het voorbijtrekkende landschap zien en verhalen horen over elk station, verteld door de plaatselijke bevolking. <\/p>\n\n

Het centrale thema van de expositie is Banitis als vriend, helper en inspirator. De verhalen zijn seizoensgebonden; tien opgenomen en gefilmd in de zomer en tien in de winter. Het Aluksne Banitis Station blijft nieuwe verhalen ontvangen van de lokale gemeenschap, die worden opgenomen en gepubliceerd op de Facebook-pagina. Deze voortdurende verzameling zorgt voor het behoud en de verspreiding van het culturele erfgoed dat verbonden is met Banitis. <\/p>\n\n
